Did you like the book? If not, why?
--I didn't really care for it. I don't read a lot of urban fiction because I rarely find a character that I can identify with. (I hope this doesn't make me sound too bourgie, LOL)

Did the book fulfill your expectations?
--I started it with no expectations.

What did you think about the plot?
--I did like the outline of the plot, but I thought some situations were pretty implausible. It felt like the author was just trying to throw one shocking thing after the other at me.

What did you think about the characters?
--Actually, I thought the characters were well thought out and had clear motivations.

Did the book end the way you thought it would?
--Pretty much

Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book?
--It was pretty easy. Like Adrienne I had some problems with the language, which is surprising since I curse like a sailor that used to be a marine. Also some of the slang seemed a little outdated.

Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?
--Not one.

Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?
--They remind me of my neighbors and people in my neighborhood, but no one I know personally.

1. Did you like the book? If not, why? I actually liked the book, this isn't the first book I have read by Noire.
2. Did the book fulfill your expectations? Yes it did
3. What did you think about the plot? I loved the overall plot! I did think that what she did to Cole was harsh, and what she did to Scotch was too easy, after all, he almost got her killed!

4. What did you think about the characters? I loved that Irish was a gangsta gone good. I loved that he tried to teach young black men that their are other options besides, selling drugs and robbing, stealing and killing. I loved Pearls passion to make something of herself!

5. Did the book end the way you thought it would?yes
6. Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book? I read the book in a day! and it was an easy read for me.
7. Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?I can semi- relate with Pearl, in the sense that if you mess with the ones I love, I will get you! hahahahahahahaa

8. Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?

1.Did you like the book? If not, why?

I thought it was an ok read. Some of the scenes just seemed way over the top to me.

2.Did the book fulfill your expectations?

I didn't really go into it with any expecations. After reading what the book was about, I was like "Wow..lets see how this all plays out".

3.What did you think about the plot?

Some of the events were too far fetched to me.

4.What did you think about the characters?

I could "identify" with many of the characters, especially Pearl. I can't imagine the extremes I would go to if my entire family was killed in such a way.

5.Did the book end the way you thought it would?

I honestly thought something was going to end up happening to Pearl.

6.Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book?

It was an easy read and it didn't take long to get into the book.

7.Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?

I definitely identified w/ Pearl b/c again if my family was killed like that, there would be NO extreme that I wouldn't go to.

8.Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?

Yes, I saw people I know in the characters.

Did the book end the way you thought it would?
Not really. I didn't expect her to find the other people who were wronged in the past and let them get revenge too

Was it an easy read?  Did it take you long to get into the book?
It was an easy read. I read it in a weekend.

Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?

Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?

1. Did you like the book? If not, why?
I thought the book was okay but some parts were not realistic and like other said, I could not understand some of the slang and I’m sure some things went right over my head.
2. Did the book fulfill your expectations?
The book was better than I thought it would be but I would not read it again.
3. What did you think about the plot?
I know we read for an escape but I did not think some of the situations were realistic.
4. What did you think about the characters?
I like that Pearl’s character did not let her surroundings or situations get her down and that she made something of herself.
5. Did the book end the way you thought it would?
Yes, I felt that she would get retribution.
6. Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book?
It was very easy despite the slang. I read it in a weekend.
7. Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?
I can identify with Pearl’s need for revenge for the death of her family.
8. Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?
I have known some lifelong drug addicts so I have known people like the sister.

1. Did you like the book? If not, why?
I thought the book was okay, I've read better books about street life such as Donald Goines who had real life experience to his writing (more than he should have as he did not live very long).

2. Did the book fulfill your expectations?
I think it's a guilty pleasure read, in addition, I live in a urban area, so the book doesn't quite measure of to real life.

3. What did you think about the plot?

I think it's a typical plot without a different or unique perspective.

4. What did you think about the characters?

I didn't find the characters very complex, some of the characters didn't seem to have any inner conflict.

5. Did the book end the way you thought it would?

Yes it did.

6. Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book?

I read it in a few days during my commute to and from work, and it didn't long for me to get into the book.

7. Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with?

I could identify with Pearl who probably had conflicted feelings about her family members. She love her family, but a great distance until the tragedy that caused her to seek revenge. I do wonder if her quest for revenge was out of the love for her family, guilt because she had not done more when they were alive, or a combination of the two. I try to look for the profound meaning. I can imagine a person wanting to get revenge, and always ask the question does the person want revenge than the obvious reason. Does revenge really make feel better, it's a question I ponder from time to time.

8. Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know?

Yes, they are people that I see everyday. Have a conversation with people in a barbershop, and say to yourself he or she is the person I just read about.

1.Did you like the book? If not, why? The book was okay. I don't care for erotica or urban fiction. Too much cussing and twerking. But with that said, it was better than I expected.

2. Did the book fulfill your expectations? Yes. Typical stripper/drug dealer fare.

3. What did you think about the plot? Like I said above, typical stripper/drug dealer/baller fare. Not sure why this is the typical plot line for virutally ALL urban fiction, but it is what it is. I can appreciate that this plot had more layers to it. Better written than most urban fiction.

4. What did you think about the characters? Interesting characters. Diverse for urban fiction.

5. Did the book end the way you thought it would? Not sure how I thought it would end. I was rooting for her to get with Menance, so I guess it did.

6. Was it an easy read? Did it take you long to get into the book? Simple enough. It wasn't a book that I couldn't put down though. I could easily stop and go do something else. But it was interesting enough where I didn't mind reading it.

7. Where there any characters in this book that you can identify with? I like Pearl's hispanic friend. She was a good chick, did whatever for her friend.

8. Are they any characters that remind you of people you may know? Not really.
